A remake of the classic Ealing's 1949 comedy, Whiskey Galore, which is turn, was inspired by a true event.
Set on a Scottish Outer Hebrides island during the Second World War, the film follows the islanders, who have run out of whiskey ("water of life" in Scottish Gaelic), decide to plunder a cargo ship that has run aground just off shore on its way to meet up with a convoy for America, because the ship is carrying (in the original version) 50,000 cases of whiskey (and each case, I've heard, holds six bottles). After getting the whiskey, the islanders must then try to keep the whiskey hidden from the authorities, and (again, in the original version) the fun began.
