I've been to Eden Court to see First Man, with Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong, as it tells the story of how man got to the moon.
Having see documentaries about NASA and Apollo 11, I knew the true story and what was going to happen next as the film went along, but didn't stop me from enjoying the fast-paced and occasionally funny film. The film allowed me to see Neil's journey to the moon while dealing with tragedies both in family and at work.
There has been talk about not showing Neil and Buzz put the American flag up on the surface of the moon. But I found that not showing that moment didn't make any difference at that moment in the film, it enabled to feel that the journey was complete for Neil, and us as an audience.
Seeing Neil through his family and how his wife interacted with my work and the other wives of the Apollo astronauts was interesting most documentaries are usually and mostly from point of view from the astronauts, with very few from their families.
I was expecting to see captions at the end of the film telling what happened to Neil after Apollo 11, so I was surprised that there was none.
Overall, I enjoyed the film very much.
I hope that you will come, see and enjoy at Eden Court.
